From Rockstar to Website Designer—Still Creating, Still Performing

I used to be a rockstar—literally. For over 30 years, I was a professional musician. My band released three CDs, won multiple awards, and toured throughout Cleveland, Florida, and much of New England. We were lucky enough to open for icons like Joan Jett, Foreigner, and The Spinners. One of the biggest highlights? Sharing the stage with Steven Tyler and other legendary artists.

So how does that help you with your website?

My passion has always been rooted in creativity. Music taught me how to connect with people, tell a story, and create something memorable—and I bring that same energy into every website I design.

My Journey Into Business

Honestly, getting started wasn’t easy. I had no idea how to run a business in the beginning—and I wasn’t afraid to ask for help. In fact, that willingness to learn has been one of my biggest strengths. With the support of others and a whole lot of persistence, I’ve grown so much. Now, heading into my fifth year as a business owner in 2025, I have a much deeper understanding of what it takes to build and run a successful creative business.

One of the things I’m most proud of? Many of my clients refer me to others—small businesses, entrepreneurs, and creatives—who need a website to grow. That kind of trust means everything to me.

Before the Business

Before starting my own business, I worked for a company that created websites for their clients. That experience opened my eyes to a new creative outlet—website design—and I instantly connected with it. It combined everything I loved: design, problem-solving, and helping people bring their ideas to life online.

Then the world changed. Like so many others, I was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and left that job during that time. But instead of letting it hold me back, I saw it as a push forward. It was the perfect moment to take everything I’d learned and build something of my own.

In 2020, I launched Website Designs by Lisa, and I haven’t looked back since.
